Auction: Photographies, Mobilier et Objects D'Art, September 23, 2009 @Sotheby's Paris

While the main photography auction season in New York doesn't really being until early October, a few sales are starting to pop up to remind us that summer is nearly over. Coming up in September, Sotheby's Paris is auctioning off an entire apartment of stuff, including a total of 65 photographs, with a total High estimate of 409200€ on the photography alone. (Catalog cover at right.)

Here's the photo breakdown:

Total Low lots (high estimate 7500€ or lower): 52
Total Low estimate (sum of high estimates of Low lots): 183200€
.
Total Mid lots (high estimate between 7500€ and 35000€): 13
Total Mid estimate: 226000€
.
Total High lots (high estimate over 35000€): 0
Total High estimate: NA
.
For our collection, we liked Lot 158, the vintage Berenice Abbott, Broome Street, New York, 1940, but there were also a pair each of Sugimoto theaters and dioramas that caught our eye, even though they don't fit into our genres.

Sotheby's seems to be a bit slow off the mark on this sale, and there is as yet no lot by lot catalog available on their website. So in the meantime, here's a rundown on the artists included, with the number of prints for sale in parentheses:
